Lichtenvoorde

LICHTENVOORDE 12 January 2013

Today I travel with the host family to Lichtenvoorde for the birthday celebration of my host dads mom. 80 years. A milestone. A great opportunity to visit a small town in Gelderland, the birth place of my hostdad, and also meet the rest of the 'family', 4 generations. Tradionally at dutch birthdays everyone sits in a circle and has a 'gezellige' time. 'Gezelligheid' is a dutch term to descibe the following; convivial, cosy, fun, quaint, or nice atmosphere, but can also connote belonging, time spent with loved ones, the fact of seeing a friend after a long absence, or general togetherness; description borrowed from Wikipedia. After spending the afternoon at the grandparents apartment, we head to a restuarant to have supper. It was a lovely day indeed.
